God has amazing plans for each of our lives. My mission trip to Jamaica was certainly apart of my plan. Back in March, my best friend, Lindsay asked me if I wanted to join her and her church on a mission trip to Jamaica. I had always wanted to go on a mission trip, but never had the opportunity. [insert opportunity]. Even though I was excited about Jamaica, my insecurities and doubts began to rise. I went through a very tough battle with Satan and quickly came to learn that whenever we are working for the Kingdom of God, evil will try to get in the way. It was a difficult few weeks and I felt the stress of evil surfacing in all areas of my life. I knew I had to let go of my insecurities and control and allow for God to lead me. It’s amazing the peace that came from that!
We flew into Kingston, where we stayed for 8 days. We began our days working in a neighborhood called Majesty Gardens. We loved on the children there and taught Vacation Bible School. In the afternoons, we visited an orphanage. It was so humbling to see the children of Kingston—they craved the smallest touch and softest words. Throughout the week, we were in constant prayer for protection and movement in our hearts. Our God showed up and worked in all of our hearts! My life was touched by the children of Jamaica, and will never be the same.
